Founded in 1832, Longines is one of the oldest and most respected watchmaking brands, having contributed to the advancement and improvement of watchmaking, having even developed instruments for aviators and explorers from the 1920s onwards. Perhaps the greatest example is the watch made for Charles Lindbergh, who collaborated with the brand to develop the “Hour Angle” that helped in navigation by coordinates.
The origin of the name Zulu Time comes from the time “Z” (Zulu), a designation used in military aeronautical navigation to indicate coordinated universal time (UTC), that is, the reference point for all time zones.
In 2021, the Zulu Time was launched as part of the Spirit collection, inspired by Longines’ historic pilot’s watches. With its contemporary design and GMT complication, it allows simultaneous reading of two time zones, a crucial feature for travel, especially in modern aviation.
The compact 39mm version came in 2023, making the watch even more elegant and versatile, without leaving aside its robustness, precision and readability. It is equipped with the L844.4 caliber, a high-precision automatic movement with COSC certification. Ceramic bezel insert, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective layers on both sides, screw-down crown, 100m water resistance and magnetic resistance are some of the predicates of this watch.
