Seiko is a century-old Japanese brand that has contributed immensely to the history of world watchmaking.
After the Second World War, the world witnessed significant changes in social behavior and technological advances, and this was no different in the East and in the world of watches.
The Daini and Suwa factories, both from Seiko, competed with each other with the aim of developing the best caliber with technological innovations, and the 70s were the peak when it came to chronograph watches.
In 1969, Seiko pioneered the marketing of the first watch equipped with an automatic chronograph caliber: the 6139.
And many iconic models were developed with the 6139 caliber, with this 6139-6000 with a blue dial being famous for being seen countless times on the wrist of French Formula 1 driver François Cevert, hence the nickname.
Anyone who likes Seiko and follows the market knows how increasingly difficult it is to find a completely original 6139-600X. Many times (unfortunately) the watches have had parts replaced, have been polished incorrectly, distorting the design or simply do not work properly.
This piece, on the other hand, is 100% original, working perfectly, including the internal bezel rotating. Expected signs of age are present.
Manufactured in April 1970, this watch has the inscription "Water 70m Proof" on the dial, indicating that it was one of the first models manufactured. It is a collector's item!
