The Uni-Compax is a classic vintage chronograph - the "toolwatch" of the 1940s.
Founded in 1894, in Le Locle/Switzerland, Universal Genève stood out in the 1930s for producing excellent chronographs, competing side by side with other famous brands, such as Rolex and Patek Philippe, in terms of innovation and quality.
In 1936, the Compax collection emerged, standing out for its functionality, refined design and mechanical innovation. Among these chronographs was the Uni-Compax line, conceived as a simpler and more functional version, aimed at those who wanted a functional chronograph, but without the complex layout (and often difficult to read) of traditional models.
This piece dates back to the early 1940s, the heyday of the Swiss brand. Equipped with the legendary caliber 285 of the manufacture. The case has been slightly polished in the past, but retains its lines and design. The original dial is in good condition, with patina and impressions that are still strong and clear.
Following the recent acquisition of Universal Genéve by Breitling, we will most likely witness, in the not-so-distant future, relaunches inspired by classic collections, such as the Compax and the Polerouter, a fact that reinforces the collectibility of this beautiful piece, combined with its high degree of originality.
